Indian Petronet LNG Jan-Mar regas volume dips slightly to 3.34 Bcm

India's leading LNG importer, Petronet LNG, reported marginally lower regasification volumes for January-March of 121 million MMBtu (3.34 billion cubic meters) compared with 122 million MMBtu a year earlier, with the newly commissioned Kochi terminal struggling to make any meaningful contribution, finance director R.K.Garg said Wednesday.

The 10 million mt/year Dahej terminal operated at little less than its name plate capacity, and the 5 million mt/year terminal at Kochi commissioned in the last financial year (April-March) showed no signs of picking up volumes mainly due to the lack of pipeline connectivity, Garg told Platts by telephone from New Delhi.

Regasification volume should pick up this year as Petronet LNG has contracted 800,000 mt short-term volume to be delivered through the year and with Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. starting to use Dahej terminal to import 1.25 million mt/year LNG in April, Garg said.
