Alstom T&D India bags order to renovate Bihar grid

Alstom T&D India has secured a INR 50.66-crore order to renovate and modernise 132/33KV grid substations across various locations for Bihar State Power Transmission Co. The project is aimed at strengthening the transmission system and enhancing power evacuation capacity under India's 12th Five Year Plan.

Under this contract, Alstom T&D India will replace aging and defective substation equipment with new and technologically advanced gear, including 132 kV and 33kV outdoor circuit breaker, isolator, lightning arrestors and relay control panels. Major equipment will be sourced from Alstom T&D India's various manufacturing facilities.

"Bihar is one of the most rapidly growing states in India, and aims to invest significantly in the coming years to revamp the power sector in the state. The state government plans to replace the obsolete infrastructure, increasing power capacity and providing reliable and uninterrupted electricity to its population of approximately 110 million people," Alstom T&D India Managing Director Rathin Basu said.
