Mizoram CM asks OIL to employ local youths

Aizawl (Mizo News): Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla held meeting with the heads of Oil India Limited (OIL) on Saturday at his office Cabinet room and discussed with the latter regarding employment of the local youths by OIL, the company being hired for oil exploration in the state.

As has been suggested by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla to the companies who are hired for development projects in Mizoram to engage as many locals as possible in the works suitable for them, OIL comes with the plan to impart training so that the local youths may be employed as such.

A.N.Borthakur, Head Geosciences, NEF, OIL, informed the Chief Minister that the company has 3 training institutions in India. He also informed that the expenses of those selected for training shall be borne by the company under Corporate Social Responsibility, including their travelling expenses.

OIL chief also briefed the Chief Minister that the company has its own system of functioning and protocol. He also told the Chief Minister that OIL always gives priority to the development of the indigenous people.

As the intended training is in line with skill development, officials concerned for the same also took part in the meeting between CM and OIL leaders. Also surfaced in the meeting was that as regards construction of roads to connect OIL sites at Keifang by BRTF, OIL has made the necessary deposit of fund. BRO leaders were also present in the meeting. OIL has had under Corporate Social Responsibility carried out a number of development works for society since their stay in Mizoram. Such includes a gift of Ambulance for Aizawl Civil Hospital tan, INR 2.94 lakhs help for construction of Chaltlang Branch YMA Community Hall, Ambulance for Serkawn Christian Hospital, INR 1 lakh for state level badminton competition in Serchhip, and INR 2 lakhs for inter college football tournament in Aizawl.

The meeting with the OIL officials was also attended by Minister of State for Health Services, Lalrinmawia Ralte, Minister of State for Labour, Employment & Training, Joseph Lalhimpuia, Parliamentary Secretary for Industries, T.Sangkunga, Chairman, Mizoram Youth Commission and Lalram Thanga, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister.
