NCHAC CEM reviews NHAI works in Dima Hasao

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the NCHAC, Debojeet Thaosen on Friday reviewed the progress of work undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) with officials of the NHAI, State PWD, NH Division, and construction companies. The review was meant to assess the preparedness to tackle the situation during the proposed ‘mega block.’ With regard to the problems relating to land acquisition, an assurance was given that the Land Revenue Department would soon take positive action in this regard with the help of the district administration.

Expressing concern over the non-repair of the Jatinga-Harangajao Road, the CEM insisted that the NHAI should give priority to the work and repair the road at the earliest. Thaosen also expressed his unhappiness at the tardy pace of construction of the Jatinga-Haflong Road. He urged Ajay Chandra Bordoloi, Commissioner & Secretary, PWD, NH Division, Government of Assam, to look into the matter as the public, especially schoolchildren, are facing immense hardships while travelling on this road.

A discussion was also held over the law-and-order issues with respect to the National Highway projects. Bordoloi said that Assam Chief Secretary J Khosla was looking into the matter himself.

Other members present in the meeting were EM Debo Prasad Hojai, Principal Secretary (N), NCHAC, Dima Hasao, and other secretaries of the NCHAC.
