Telangana Power Crisis: Adani meets CM

Goutam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani group, has said that the group targets to produce 20,000 mw of power by 2020. “We will be in a position to supply power to all the power-starved States,” Adani has told Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao.

Telangana State is facing a severe shortage of power, with the demand from farmers sharply going up in the last two weeks. With the Andhra Pradesh Government cancelling the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), the power woes of Telangana’s only increased.

Adani has met the Chief Minister here on Monday and briefed him about the group’s expansion plans. “The Chief Minister welcomed Adani’s plan to produce power which he said would be handy to the States that are facing severe shortage,” a statement from the chief minister’s office said. The Chief Minister told Adani that the State was in the process of finalising an Industrial Policy that would offer single-window clearances to project proposals.
