Governmet is envisaging road map to achieve 175 GW renewable power addition by 2022. But to achieve this colossal capacities, government should concentrate on renewable power evacuation infrastructure and financial condition of the distribution companies. Proper transmission and distribution infrastructure for renewable power evacuation may provide suitable utilisation of open access mechanism enabling power sales directly to the consumer. Also by strengthening the financial condition of poorly performing distribution companies, government may create an environment where the distribution companies may not hesitate to buy relatively costlier renewable power in short to mid-term scenario.
