Crude Oil Import from Kazakhstan : Possible Hurdles

India will conduct a feasibility study to import crude oil and gas from Kazakhstan through a pipeline or as LNG in ships, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said today.

Importing from Kazakhasthan through Caspian sea, via Iran to India, seems a herculean task to conduct. Distance & geo political issue involved in Caspian Sea & Iran may dwindle the cost economics & viability of the project. Hence instead of direct transportation of Oil from Kazakhstan; Swapping arrangement with other oil rich country like Iran,UAE or Qatar may solve the issue & improve the profitability also. Hence it will be interesting to see result of the feasibility study & subsequent action plan of Govt. to secure Oil from Kazakhstan.
