Power Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Intergated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) is aimed at strengthening the power sub-transmission and distribution network in urban areas in states and Union Territories.

IPDS scheme for strengthening of transmission and distribution network in urban areas of  high AT&C loss would help in improving the financial health of the discom. Also, decision of investing about 32.6% of the total outlay (INR 3268 Crore) of IPDS scheme to uttar pradesh is ceratinly a good move by the government looking at the population and AT&C loss (32%) of the state. The next state that can be probable target by the govt. are Maharashtra, Odisha and Karnataka.
