Venturing into transmission business by any solar EPC company of strong balance sheet is likely to be a startegic move to diversify its portfolio by means of existing capabilities. Solar EPC companies are usually well verse with the execution of transmission projects which are necessary for the evacution purpose.

Also, with govt. ambitious target of 100 GW  of solar power by 2022 may increase the investment opportunity in transmission sector which can be tapped to gain benefit out of it.  Moreover, grabbing the market share (among private players) in transmission sector is likely to be easier as the level of competition in transmission segment is lower than solar.
