Power to All by 2019: Wastage Should Be Avoided

It is the height of paradox for a country where blackouts are more a norm than exception. Over 3 billion units of electricity , or a day's national consumption, were wasted in 2014-15 as congestion in the transmission highways blocked trading between surplus and deficit regions.

Government's target of power to all by 2019 still seems a distinct dream as over 3 billion units of electricity is being wasted, leading to idle plant capacities, shooting up of power tariffs and black outs. The main focus is on increasing generation capacities, but the present scenario requires much more realistic approach on enhancing transmission and distribution infrastructure.
