SAARC Grid: Enabling Strong Bilateral Ties

India will begin to supply up to 500 MW additional power to Bangladesh as soon as the work on SAARC grid is accomplished in the next one year or so.

Strong bilateral relationships could be witnessed in the coming years in terms of power transmission between India and adjoining countries, as SAARC transmission grid is about to get accomplished. Adjoining countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal will be benefitted as India will be able to transmit more power to them in order to cope up with their power crisis, further India may also cater its peak load demand by withdrawing more hydro power from Nepal and Bhutan.
