Decreasing Gap Between Conventional and Solar Power Tariff may Increase Preference for Solar

Mauritius-based SkyPower Southeast Asia Holdings has offered a tariff of Rs 5.051 a unit to the state government-owned MP Power Management Company, setting a new record low price in solar power generation.

Reducing gap between the tariff of solar and conventional power might increase the preferability of solar in near future.Viability of solar has always been a big question due to poor financial health of discom’s but the bid of INR 5.05/unit in Madhya Pradesh might come as a respite. In future more such aggressive bids in state like Telengana and Andhra Pradesh can pave way for india with new energy security mantra that is “Go Solar”.
