So Swarup, in the nine months since then, has gone about fixing coal and seen the fillip it is giving to power production and in turn to all kinds of economic activity, reducing imports and creating jobs.

Government target of 1.5 Billion tonnes coal production by CIL and private player through coal auction seem to be not supported by the dwindling plant load factor (PLF) of the power plant due to fall in power demand. The improvement in the economy of power plant is likely to be achieved by increasing the PLF of the plant by strengthening the balance sheet of discom.
