Greater connectivity is not the only benefit of Metro rail. According to a study commissioned, the new corridors will help decongest some roads, reduce air pollution and save fuel costs as well.

With the availability of metro services spreading across 7 cities in India, the traffic congestion and infrastructure spending on roads in these cities has reduced drastically leading to reduced carbon foot print. In addition, the land costs has been escalated multifold enroute the metro line boosting real estate and retail business. Owing to its advantage, other cities in India like Chennai, hyderabad etc. are looking keenly to develop and extend the metro rail services and this seems to show a promising business opportunity for metro rail manufacturers and service providers.
