Power discoms BSES Yamuna and Rajdhani may face the heat of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) over a list of violations, proceedings for which will be held shortly. Sources said some of the violations could result in penalties when tariffs are announced by the regulatory watchdog. However, this will depend on the outcome of the proceedings as the power companies will strongly resist imposing of penalties or action against them.

Due to multiple discrepencies by Delhi DISCOMs, DERC may impose penalties which may lead to no tariff hike for Delhi. This order will benefit the consumers to large extent as multiple tariff hikes in the recent past have been noticed in Delhi, further this may lead to liquidity crunch for the DISCOMs as they filed that they are incurring heavy losses and need a revision of tariffs. DERC will now have to pave the path in order to save the interest of both consumers and the DISCOMs without altering its responsibilities.
