Why Adani Group's Australian Coal Project Hold Importance to India ?

The Indian High Commission to Australia is batting for Gautam Adani's $7-billion Carmichael mine project in the country and sees positive signals from the government.

The government’s intervention to ease the regulatory and environment clearance problem faced by Adani’s mining project in Australia is a welcome move. If the project will be fully operational then it can produce nearly 60 MTs of high quality thermal coal. Large amount of this coal can cater the imported coal demand of thermal power plants (Imported Coal Based, Captive and Sub Critical Power Plants). And it may also provide easy availability of high quality coal to iron, steel, aluminum and other manufacturing industries. Availability of in-house port facility with the group may strengthen the shipping process of coal from Australia to India effectively. So this project may hold strength to fuel the manufacturing growth in India.
