Indian Railways to Go Green

News:

Indian Railways is planning to set up a renewable energy capacity of 1,200 MW and a transmission system to carry the power generated in an attempt to cut its power costs.

In order to reduce the power cost, largest consumer of electricity is planning to set up its own renewable energy capacity. All the equipments for these installations are to be domestically sourced, therefore a push will be given to "Make in India" and creating better job opportunities. Scheduling of the power will remain the major concern for railways as power generation from these sources is fluctuating, thereby making the system unstable.
