Land Transfer Issues Hurdling the Progress of Metro Projects

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has asked government officials to ensure speedy transfer of land for the upcoming metro projects in the state, so they are not delayed because of acquisition issues.

Metro projects in Delhi, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad etc. have been delayed due to land acquisition, cutting tree and clearance problems. This has become a serious area of concern as it results in cost overrun and longer project period. Continuing with such delays seems to weaken the investor’s interest and business environment may not turn out to be favorable for the future projects. An individual government entity that looks specifically into such issues can be set up as a way out to tackle these issues.
