Smart Phone Makers to Foster Domestic Production in India: An Opportunity of USD 25 Billion

Foxconn is planning a joint venture (JV) with the Adani group which entails an investment of $5 billion to manufacture electronic products such as iPhones and Kindles in facilities in Karnataka and Gujarat.

Besides the major manufactures like Foxconn, HTC and Asus, others players like BenQ, Delta Electronics and MSI are eyeing to set up their manufacturing units in India, thus boosting Make in India initiative. The states that is more likely to attract the investment includes Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.  This seems to help India in the long run to build a strong electronic manufacturing base and to be a part of global supply chain.
