SNP Insight:

Raising fund from the market to establish domestic panel manufacturing base will certainly imrove the the current account deficit. But difficulty in manufacturing indigenous solar panel of International standard at lower price when bidding of solar going to INR 5.015 per unit might question the viability of the project. Also, duty free import of equipment from oversees may obstruct the offtake of domestic panels unless all bid is made to some proportionate DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) based.
