Smart Cities in Transformation to Safe Cities: Opportunities for Safe Gadget Manufacturers

The Home Ministry will be proposing to the Urban Development (UD) Ministry that the former's 'Safe City' project should be combined with the Rs 48000 cr 'Smart Cities' concept so that the 100 cities to be developed as smart cities are also safe.

With more focus converged on to the safety parameter of the smart cities, the demand for the safety monitoring equipments such as CCTV, GPS enabled devices, surveillances etc.  seems to grow multifold. This may open up huge opportunities for the manufacturers and equipment suppliers. On the otherside, including the safety cost in the smart city budget seems to be unrealistic as there are possibilities that the fund get shorten in future leading to safety comprises.
