SNP Insight:

New tariff policy to incentivised renewable energy projects and efficient thermal power plant is likely to reduce the carbon dioxide emission and may help in achieving the government ambitious target of 100 GW of solar by 2022. But new tariff policy without timely tariff revision may put all initiative in vain, impacting financial health of the discoms and hence the viability of new renewable projects.
