Around 80 mn rural households are estimated to have no access to grid power. Off-grid decentralised systems, based on renewable energy, are lighting up around 1,000 villages through government funding.

Decentralised distributed generation may be seen as the ray of hope for the villages which has no access to grid power. Subsidised models enable the end consumers to procure power at cheap rates without putting much financial burden on them, further it allows the use of locally available renewable sources of energy. These kind of models will help in overall economic growth of the country as it can make far off villages self suatainable.
