The Government initiative to develop port and boost the inland waterways seems to attract huge investments from private sector players including foreign investors. The idea of developing the small and medium sized ports first, may foster the coal transportation to a large extent, thus reducing the transortation cost to almost half. Such iniatives aided by 101 inland waterways project and upcoming Multi model logistic hub, undoubtedly help India in developing its inland transportation network.
