Government in Fast Track Mode to Achieve CIL's 1 Billion Production Target

Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal will inaugurate by month-end two mines of Western Coalfields Ltd, an arm of Coal India which is working towards meeting 1 billion tonnes production over the next 5 years.

Government’s initiative to speed up coal production by opening new mines is a welcoming step. This may help CIL to achieve the set production target. But only ramping up the production is not going to help the CIL to achieve 1 billion production target by 2020. The government has to concentrate on to keep in place better coal off take practices by introducing robust logistic and coal transportation processes from coal mining sight to consumer end.
