Government’s initiative to eradicate the power sector constraints has shown positive impact on improving the power availability in the country. The increase in generation capacity addition,  improved fuel avaliability to power plants, augmentation of transmission infrastructure and energy conservation measures result in showing upward surge in availability of power in the country. But the government has to make sure the UDAY scheme should be adopted by majority distribution companies to avail the distribution reform mechanism. This may improve the power off taking capacity of distribution companies and may help to strike a balance between supply and demand of electricity in the country.
