New Sunrise in the Distribution Sector

DISCOM’s have been loss making bodies ever since their origination and as an overdue but much welcome step  Govt has decided to take keeping a hawk’s eye on them. With the new metering system and monthly monitoring in place, things are bound to improve. Consumers suffering because of willful load shedding by DISCOM’s will heave a sigh of relief if Govt modifies the electricity act on proposed PPA renewal. All in all is good news, but for a DISCOM to work efficiently and cut down on losses Govt needs to ensure that the tariff agreement is revived with the power purchase cost otherwise every step taken for the betterment is bound to take a fall.
