Coal Shortage Caused Power Generation Loss, a Recurring Nuisance

Shortage of coal supply has severely impacted power generation and hence impacted the power supply, the entire chain has suffered due to this. It has impacted developers, DISCOM’s and ultimately the common mass. Developers were not able to provide the agreed power to DISCOM’S as per PPA and DISCOM’S made up with power shedding. Govt not only needs to ensure optimum power supply but also needs to ensure that power plants have stocked the required amount of coal. Govt needs to devise startegy to reduce CIL’s monopoly and bring out competition in the coal sector as more number of players will definitely boost the supply.
