A commercially viable storage facility for renewable will open new doors for the green energy sector especially solar. It will help the developer or the IPP’s to store the excess energy and use it at night or store it for later sale. This will definitely help India reduce its dependence on imports of fossil fuels, boosting the economy. Govt’s dream of electric cars will become easier too as charging is one of the biggest concern in the EV market and it too will cut down on India’s dependence on oil import. For a steady implementation Govt needs to take care that companies don’t get caught up on the hassles of permits or land acquisitions. Though storage facility of renewable power at competitive cost is still a challenge, govt intervention and support might bring down the cost to affordable and competitive range for developer to make the sector more profiteering and vibrant.
