Charging Points for Electric Vehicles at Railway Stations, EV's First Baby Step

This comes as a major initiation in converting Govt’s dream of full scale utilization of electric vehicles a reality, leading a way to reduce oil consumption and dependence on oil import. This will definitely give a boost to India’s economy. Charging the vehicles is one of the biggest challenges for EV’s as there isn’t proper infrastructure to charge it and with railways providing space and facility it can reach out to remote areas as well, since Indian railways have connectivity across almost the entire nation. Govt needs to explore more options on the charging time as even with DC charging the minimum time required is 40 minutes, reducing this time frame will make it more consumer-friendly. 

Govt can search for viavle options like, making the Battery portable enough to be repalced at each charging station, subject to large scale implementation of the same would be very much challenging as it would be bit capital intensive in nature.
