DISCOM's AT&C losses, an Incessant Headache

DISCOM’s AT&C losses has been a pain stricken area for a long time, Govt has taken its toll causing huge fiscal deficit. Under UDAY Govt is trying to salvage as much as possible but DISCOM’s still are loss making bodies. Govt needs to control the transmission losses with better infrastructure, both Govt and DISOM’s with the help of law enforcement forces need to become stringent to stop commercial losses. Central Govt needs to keep an eye on state Govt’s delayed subsidy to DISCOM’s as it not only increases the AT&C losses but it severely impacts the entire chain. State Govt need to honor the PPA’s as any change may lead to unviability of the project and again it impacts the entire chain from developer, DISCOM’s to the common masses.
