CIL and its affiliates have been the only players in the coal supply market and this had led to inefficiency and shortage of coal everywhere, it has impacted business in a negative way and Govt’s announcement comes as a relief. More number of players will ensure optimum supply and a balanced price. This move will attract many investors both foreign and domestic and reduce the amount of coal imported; overall it will have a positive impact on the Indian economy.
