Anti-dumping duty petition for solar cells and its Consequences

Developers hugely depend on imported solar panels as they are economical and surplus as compared to domestic products. With anti-dumping and safeguard duty in picture developers are shying away from auctions which is a death knell for the 100 GW target. Before filing the petition afresh manufacturers need to ensure that their production is adequate to meet the market requirement and the price quoted should not impact the developer’s profit margin.  Govt needs to maintain a balance so that both the manufacturer and the developer benefit else the entire chain will get hurt adversely impacting the sector.
