CIL Misses Production Target, an Unceasing Irritant!

Coal India has been missing on production target for 11 months now and this has caused a serious coal shortage. With the approaching summer electricity demand is bound to increase and power plants will need to import coal to keep up the production. Importing coal will adversely impact the economy. Importing coal will put pressure on producers cash flow and the per unit power price might increase too and that will impact the entire chain. Govt needs to take immediate action on CIL’s inefficiency and end its monopoly and improve the railway rake quantity for better supply.
