Gas Based Power Plants on the Verge of Destitution

With almost one-third of the installed capacity in a stranded state and the rest functioning at 25% PLF, gas supply has become a nightmare. All the projects have become unviable and are in need Of Govt subsidies and tax exemptions; Govt also needs to ensure that the producers receive timely payments from DISCOM’s without which they can’t import LNG as well.  To resolve the distress Govt needs to fasten the e-tendering process done by ONGC for gas allocation as without it producers are looking at bankruptcy.
