Coal India's Supply Woes

Utilisation of road network for transportation of coal to power plants comes as a temporary solution amid lack of coal supply and hence sub optimal plant operation scenario. Spot electricity charges have increased due coal shortage and this measure will help improve the situation marginally. Govt needs to ensure that there are no bottlenecks and supply starts as early as possible, if an adverse power situation is to be avoided. Govt needs to think of a permanent solution to the perils of power plants as temporary solutions might save the day but won’t work in a long term.
