Delhi Slashes Electricity Charges, a Curse in Disguise?

General population will definitely welcome Delhi Govt’s decision to reduce the power tariff. However, considering rise in spot elecetricity prices, and propsective increase in power demand, purchasing costly power from exchange will deteriorate DISCOM's already overburdened balance sheet which they might try to compensate with load shedding which will ultimately impact the common mass. If Govt takes the hit and provides subsidy it will increase the fiscal deficit.  Govt needs to rethink the approach of wooing masses with these trinkets as they are not profitable for anyone in a long run.
