<p><span style="font-size:9.0pt">Amendments prophesied in Electricity Act by Power Ministry enforces effective deterrence in form of enhances penalties on Discoms for violation from stringent performance indices. From Next Financial Year, Discoms shall be levied with hefty penalties for load shedding and penalty for non-compliance can be extended upto Rs. 1,000 per day of default. This is poised to increase demand of power and &nbsp;benefit ailing Generators that are struggling for PPA. &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:9pt">Discoms shall also be evaluated based on annual performance and any financial implication arising out of AT&amp;C losses beyond a benchmark of 15% shall be borne by Discom. Earlier Discoms claimed reimbursement from Government for Transmission, which shall not be allowed from next FY. This would enforce Discoms to improve performance and quality of supplied power.</span></p>
