Renewable Energy Target Dampens Attributable to New Connectivity Regulations and Muddled Safeguard Duty on Solar

<p><span style="font-size:9.0pt">Solar Targets seems to be delineated in looming uncertainty on imposition of 70% safeguard duty on solar equipment. Solar developers are also concerned over new regulation on grant of connectivity to inter-state transmission system (ISTS). As such implementation of both may lead to increase in solar tariff and discoms will be reluctant to buy costly power. </span></p> <p><span style="font-size:9pt">Government is much more ambitious to over achieve the set target of 175 GW, but such creeping uncertainties would put roadblock in its execution. Timely auction is important, else it would deter solar energy targets by 2022.</span></p>
