Tamil Nadu sees spurt in green power production on higher hydro generation

<p>Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s green power generation has increased with a high contribution of hydro power in the last two days. Heavy rain in the Nilgiris district helped contribute to the high hydro power generation. Along with wind and solar, the total green power generation crossed 38%. Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s hydro power capacity is 2307MW and much of it is situated in the Nilgiris district. Incessant rainfall in the hills helped increase hydro power generation from less than 100MW to a peak 700MW. While the total hydro generation on Saturday evening was 781MW, the same day last year, the it was 40MW.</p>
