National Discom to be set up to Monitor Power Distribution Activities

<p><span style="font-size:9.0pt">Government has planned for setting up of a Central Discom that will monitor all distribution activities and ensure time-bound implementation of central schemes. Engaging a Central Agency on all discoms is poised to cobble condition of anonymity and laggardness in the entire system.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:9pt">It will also promote more competition in sector as the central company thus formed will also compete with private firms and contractors to bag contracts of state-run distribution companies for appointing franchisees or engineering tenders.</span></p>
