12 GW of Newly Proposed Solar Scheme to Bring Sigh of Relief to Domestic Players

<p><span style="font-size:9.0pt">Indian market is flooded with solar equipment imported from countries like China, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA e.t.c, domestic players have been incompetent due to cheap cost of module and other equipment. Domestic player&#39;s agitation have already been represented before various commission but could not make out difference due to trade rules set out.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:9pt">This new scheme once approved is poised to safeguard domestic solar developer&#39;s interest without violating WTO norms, as the scheme generated power will be used for government&rsquo;s own consumption. India&#39;s indigenous solar manufacturing capacity lies stranded to 1 GW, due to inadequacy of solar tenders mandating Domestic Content Requirement and deterred economies of scale of domestic manufacturers. The Rs 8,000-crore scheme will be a significant boost for Indian manufacturers and local manufacturing of solar equipment. Solar Manufacturing is estimated to grow by 3 GW, which is current size of domestic solar cell market in India.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:9pt">Safeguard Duty imposition also awaits to slack distress of domestic players.</span></p>
