Solar Projects Under Construction Hostile to Safeguard Duty

<p><span style="font-size:9.0pt">Solar Capacities around 14,000 MW is under execution phase, imposing safeguard duty of 25% on imported solar equipment for 1 year, is estimated to rise tariff by 30-40 paise per unit. Though government has allowed pass through to consumers, but developers find it a long way to get the tariff approved from commission, which is a cumbersome process. Even the Discoms are reluctant to buy Solar Power at higher prices. The projects that were bid earlies should be isolated from imposition of safeguard duty, as developers will be dismayed by such regulatory bottlenecks and uncertainties.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></p>
