Inadequate Evacuation Facilities delays Renewable Energy Targets

Renewable Energy projects in recent past have experienced transmission bottlenecks. In purview of which, SECI has postponed/cancelled auctions. Developers are sceptical to participate in these bids. Developers alleged that due to lack of available capacities at nearest substation, commissioning of projects have been substantially delayed. A Substation usually takes 3-4 years for commissioning where as a renewable energy project takes less than 2 years. Government have to revamp transmission capabilities so as to match commissioning schedule of renewable plants with that of substation and transmission infrastructure, else renewable capacities is poised to be bottled-up.
