Andhra State Discoms are reluctant to buy excess power from wind due to Grid Constraint

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Andhra Discoms are reluctant to buy excess wind power form over performing plants, citing a reason for grid constraint. Developers are of view that refusal comes for the discoms unwillingness to pay for extra power. Accordingly state regulatory commission, has directed the discoms that Wind Plants are must run plants and they have to take all power from wind developers and pay them, irrespective of CUF of developer&#39;s project or CUF assumptions being taken by regulator to arrive at feed-in tariff.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size:11pt">It is estimated that around 2000 MW of Wind Power have been turned down by state discoms in the last fiscal. Such discontent of power from state will jeopardized viability of project and also may dismays stakeholder&#39;s returns. Still common owes of both wind and solar sector are inadequate evacuation facilities, which has forced sector to enter a difficult phase. It is appraised that in such situation, participation in the tenders may also turn out to be lukewarm.&nbsp; &nbsp;</span></p>
