UP Govt to give subsidy on rooftop solar

<p>Installing rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential consumers will become more affordable in Uttar Pradesh as the State Government announced a subsidy of Rs 15,000 / kW for development of rooftop solar projects. If a single project is 3 kW, the subsidy provided would be capped at Rs 30,000. A subsidy of Rs 15,000 / kW for development of rooftop solar projects in the state will be provided to residential consumers. The subsidy will be in addition to the 30 per cent central financial assistance provided by Union ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).</p> <p>The move is expected to boost rooftop solar installations in the state. As per NEDA, Uttar Pradesh has a cumulative rooftop solar installations of 55 MW. In January, the state government decided to subsidise rooftop solar installations in an effort to promote solar installations. In December 2017, the cabinet approved its &#39;Draft Solar Policy, 2017&#39; and gave it a retrospective effect from November 6, 2017. The policy laid out a number of things that the state must do to promote adoption of renewable energy.</p>
