Electric Vehicles becoming priority for the government.

Government has paved its way forward for faster adoption of electric vehicles and has laid its ground for effective replacement of fossil fuel based vehicles. Extending its support, the Department of Heavy Industries (DHI) has approved 2,636 electric vehicle charging stations in 62 cities across 24 states and union territories (UTs) under the second phase of FAME India. Out of these, 1,633 charging stations will be fast-charging stations, and 1,003 will be slow charging stations.

Developers are required to ensure availability of land for charging stations, signing of necessary agreements or memorandum of understanding (MoU) with concerned partner organizations like city municipal corporation, DISCOMs, and oil companies.

This would boost participation from equipment suppliers and manufacturers and encourage users for adoption of electric vehicles. This could improve overall air quality and lower carbon emissions,  thereby improving public health.
