Kakinada City Master Plan to be Revised

  • The former municipal chairperson, Mr Jyothula Seetha Ramamurthy, former corporators and councillors attended.Mr Jyothula Seetha Rammurthy said that the master plan was being implemented since 1975 and it was not revised till now.He said that drinking water supply was prepared for 7,000 water connections, but this had increased to 20,000 and illegal water motor connections had abnormally increased. He stressed the need for coordination between town planning and municipal administration officials.

  • Many former corporators and councillors advised officials to construct a third bridge across the Uppeteru canal at Jagannadhapuram. They wanted the de-silting programme to be completed within the rainy season.Later, Mr Pallam Raju and Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) special officer, district collector, Mr Ravi Chandra, instructed officials to take up works for the development of major drains and outlets under the 13th Planning Commission funds.They said that the sites should be identified to set up substations at Anna-mmaghati centre, Port and Santha Cheruvu areas for avoiding a low-voltage problem in the city.The minister suggested that officials make efforts to complete the construction of the Jyothula market complex soon. He also said that encroachments should be removed, relocating the encroachers. He also said that efforts should be made for supplying drinking water to people by filling the Aratlakatta reservoir to full capacity.Mr Ravi Chandra suggested that government appoint a special officer for monitoring the expansion of the main road. The Kakinada MLA, Mr Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy, the KMC commissioner, Mr V. Ravi Kumar and others participated.
