Indore: Work on 4-Lane Highway to Start

  • Now, it will be easy for commuters to go to Shivpuri by road from city as they will have four-lanes to ply on. As per a recent development, all formalities to begin construction of four-lane road from Dewas to Shivpuri have been completed and soon the much awaited road construction will start. GVK Shivpuri Dewas Expressway Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Infrastructure Developer GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd, has signed a concession agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the four-lane road. Project director IM Siddique said the project will be executed on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis. The project entails the widening and strengthening of the two-lane highway to a four-lane highway with a length of 332.46 km. The concession period offered for the project is 30 years, including a construction phase of 2.5 years.

  • “With this new project, we will develop one of India’s busiest highways to meet the growing road transport needs in central and northern India,” G V. Krishna Reddy, chairman of GVK group, said. National highway no. 3, commonly referred to as the Mumbai-Agra highway, is a vital trade corridor connecting western and central India to northern India. The project road passes entirely through MP carrying predominantly long-distance freight traffic, and is expected to offer high growth potential for commercial traffic.
