‘MP Govt Working Towards Development of Villages’

  • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asserted that villages will not lag behind in the race for development at any cost. Real India resides in villages and the Madhya Pradesh Government is working to change the image of villages. He was inaugurating Panch Parmeshwar Yojna introduced for providing lump-sum funds to villages for infrastructure development here on Tuesday. The objective of the scheme is to ensure speedy development of infrastructure and other basic amenities in villages. The Chief Minister said that gram panchayats are strong roots of democracy in the country. The Union Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee had taken a revolutionary step by launching Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna for linking villages with pucca roads. Before this, pucca road was a dream for villagers.

  • Under the scheme, all villages up to 1,000 populations have been connected with pucca roads in MP. But it is a fact that the State has been punished for this instead of being rewarded. Fund flow for the scheme to the State were stopped saying that first all the villages in the country with one thousand population are connected with pucca roads and then only other villages will be covered under the scheme, he said. The Chief Minister said that this attitude did not discourage the Government. Thus, they launched Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna for connecting villages with less than one thousand population with pucca roads. Similarly, the Centre allotted very less number of houses than MP’s population under Indira Awas Yojna, which was totally unjust. The Government started Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna for making available houses to the poor, under which 50,000 houses are being constructed.

  • He said through Panch Parmeshwar Yojna, construction of Anganwadi buildings and all works pertaining to roads and other infrastructure will be accomplished systematically and at a rapid pace. The scheme will yield very good results due to convergence of schemes. There will hardly be any gram panchayat, which will be unable to spend Rs20 lakh per annum on roads. Panchayats utilising funds soon will be allocated additional funds. He exhorted panchs and sarpanchs to avail maximum benefit of the scheme and change the image of their respective villages.
